The artist has given the entirety of his twenty-five thousand pound award winnings to the MVT, which operates to protect the UK's small live music spots.

Fender was awarded the prize on October 16 as his new release his work was named the best record of the past year.

The musician has opted to give the cash to the MVT, in recognition of the crucial part small stages had in his early career.

"I couldn't be pursuing this success if it wasn't for all the performances I played around the North East, and elsewhere, when I was starting out," remarked the artist. "These locations are iconic, but they are struggling."

From early 2023 onward, over 150 of these venues have ceased operations – approximately 16 percent of the entire UK sector.

In the last year, well-known musicians including the band Pulp, Coldplay, Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all aided the MVT in its efforts to help venues survive, by applying a small levy to their ticket prices, which supports local stages.

Fender also took part, collecting more than £100,000 on his recent tour to help numerous grassroots venues across England, Scotland, and Wales.

The money helped venues that were facing potential shutdown due to difficulties arising from water damage, fire incidents and family tragedies, as well as licensing issues, court cases and sound issues.

Some locations were granted funding support in improving amenities and technical equipment that positively impacted artists and fans.

"The concept that revenue from performances in large arenas supports the smaller venues, where it begins for artists like me, is just sensible," Fender has commented.

"And I contributed a thousand pounds to my local community centre, to their gymnastics program, because I practiced gymnastics when I was growing up and they lacked new equipment," Ms Dynamite told outlets.

In recent years, Ezra Collective donated their prize money to the youth organization that developed their group, as well as other local music groups.

Additionally the 1994 recipients they gave their winnings to a charity for MS after a friend was found to have the condition.

"Winning was quite enough," said vocalist Small. "The prize was the cherry on top but we could do without the bonus, because we had the honor. So our success touched the lives of others."

In the past week, the Music Venues Trust shared it had rescued several grassroots venues in that region, by transferring them to community ownership.

The Joiners in the city and the other in that location were bought under the public acquisition initiative, which is supported by Arts Council England and enthusiasts who buy "shares" in the properties.
