Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of characters, and a gripping narrative including celestial beings, demons, and dark forces growing in power within the city.
Note: Revealing details for the third episode of Campaign 4 are included.
The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced
The third episode finished on a dramatic pause and presented the initial group of characters who will separate from the central cast to begin their own adventure, distinct from the other two tables.
The combat-focused team consists of Teor (brought to life by Travis), Thimble (Laura), Tyranny (the cast member), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
Dividing the Cast
Given a large ensemble, it was clear from the beginning that keeping everyone at a single group would be impossible.
Hence, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, connecting the personal journeys before dividing into three separate parties: Fighters, Schemers, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Soldiers Table
As described by the DM, the combat-focused party is for players who prefer a classically intense battle-oriented narrative style where diplomatic options are few and far between.
At first glance, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might seem unsuited, but the actions of episode 3 show why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the combat party.
Reasons to Leave
To begin with, the team understands precisely where to go next after a violent initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
A former ally of the deceased character—whose demise kicked off the narrative’s action—exploited the enemy for his personal gain, breaking into the secret base, striking Thimble, and taking all the magical artifacts to sell off.
The antagonist then paid off his obligations and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, above the urban center, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.
Personal Motivations
Secondly, each member has a personal reason to exit Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, desires vengeance.
- The knowledgeable figure is familiar with Timmony and cautions that it is a dangerous environment.
- Tyranny and The healer, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to eliminate the target and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
- However, their position as important members in the powerful family could help the party reach locations they normally couldn’t.
- Additionally, Teor pledged a eternal obligation to The cleric for his salvation and will now accompany him wherever.
Wanted and Hunted
In addition, all of them are hunted by the rulers that govern Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making lingering locally dangerous:
- The agile adventurer and The hero are notorious outlaws.
- The warrior and The healer turned against House Halovar and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- The fighter is wanted dead by the family.
This means them little choice but to travel to Timmony in pursuit of Casimir.
